NameDaisy is the personal project of a girl with a passion for artistic expression through data and code, and a special interest in what other people choose to name their babies.

It was a lot of fun to make, and I really hope you enjoy using it as much as I enjoyed building it.

Data Sources

US name popularity data comes from the US Social Security Administration, which publishes baby name frequency data going back to 1880. The SSA only includes names with at least 5 occurrences in a given year to protect privacy.

UK figures are compiled from three official sources: Baby names in England and Wales (Office for National Statistics), Babies' First Names (National Records of Scotland), and Baby Names (NISRA). Each publisher releases data for its own nation; we sum them to produce UK-wide counts and rankings, available from 1997 (the first year covered by all three). Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0; NISRA statistics are Crown copyright.
